Abstract
As a critical infrastructure in the Internet of Things (IoT), wireless sensor networks (WSNs) play a key role in data collection and processing in areas such as healthcare, precision agriculture, and smart cities. With the rapid growth of the number of IoT-connected devices, challenges such as energy management and security have become serious obstacles to the effective utilization of WSNs. Focusing on innovative resource allocation methods, this paper reviews approaches such as non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA), whale optimization algorithm (WOA), game theory, and artificial intelligence (AI) techniques. With simulations conducted in the NS3 environment, the results show that the proposed method significantly improves network efficiency by reducing energy consumption by 35% (from 2.1J to 1.4J) and increasing data transfer rate by 28% (from 87% to 93%). Also, new security solutions such as ChaCha20-style encryption and its combination with machine learning algorithms have been proposed to counter complex attacks such as Wormhole and Sybil, which have resulted in a 92% reduction in attack success. Finally, the article draws a forward-looking vision for the sustainable and secure development of WSNs in the IoT context by examining emerging technologies such as blockchain, edge computing, and 6G networks.
