Convergence of Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, and Blockchain in Industry 5 and Smart Cities: A Comprehensive Systematic Review

| The convergence of artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), and blockchain technologies has been identified as a pivotal trend in the transformation of Industry 5 and smart cities. This study conducted a systematic review of the literature published between 2019 and 2025, using the PRISMA framework and quantitative thematic analysis. 85 relevant articles were selected from databases such as IEEE Xplore, Scopus, and Web of Science. The results show that the combination of AI and blockchain is receiving the most attention, but the triple combination (AI IoT blockchain) is expanding. The prominent challenges included energy consumption, scalability, data security, and interoperability. Based on these findings, a five-axis research roadmap is proposed: secure architecture, tokenized economic model, data security, social acceptance, and field validation.This study provides valuable guidance for researchers, decision-makers, and industrialists to develop smart, safe, and sustainable solutions |
