High-Precision Networking: Protocols for Nanosecond-Level Synchronization and Latency Guarantees
Abstract:   (4 Views)

In modern networks, the need for nanosecond-level time synchronization and reduced data transmission latency has become a major challenge in applications such as 5G, the Internet of Things (IoT), and autonomous systems. This research aims to analyze and evaluate high-precision networking protocols—particularly the Precision Time Protocol (PTP) and Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN)—by examining their ability to achieve accurate synchronization and guarantee low latency. The research methodology is based on a systematic review of scientific literature and IEEE standards, as well as simulations conducted in real industrial and communication environments. The obtained results show that PTP and TSN can reduce network latency to below 100 nanoseconds and improve synchronization accuracy to approximately 10 nanoseconds. Comparative analysis indicates that the intelligent integration of PTP and TSN can overcome limitations arising from infrastructure heterogeneity and ensure stable timing and Quality of Service (QoS) in time-sensitive networks.Consequently, this study presents an integrated framework for the concurrent implementation of these two protocols in dynamic and complex environments, providing a key foundation for enabling future communications with high predictability, stability, and safety.
